In a statement shared on social media, Trump said both sides would begin the ceasefire at 5 p.m. EST following discussions with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The development comes as cross-border hostilities intensified after clashes involving Hezbollah earlier this year, alongside the broader conflict linked to the Iran war.
Trump said the agreement followed high-level talks in Washington, where officials from both countries met for the first time in more than three decades. He added that US officials, including Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, would continue working with both sides to secure a lasting peace.
He also indicated plans to invite the Israeli and Lebanese leaders to the White House for further negotiations, expressing optimism that the ceasefire could lead to a broader resolution.
According to Lebanese authorities, Israeli strikes have killed over 2,100 people and displaced more than 1.2 million since early March. Israel, meanwhile, says attacks by Hezbollah have resulted in civilian and military casualties on its side.
Prior to the announcement, President Aoun had urged Washington to push for a ceasefire, calling it a necessary step towards direct negotiations and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon.
Despite diplomatic efforts, hostilities continued in parts of southern Lebanon, including the strategic town of Bint Jbeil, where fighting remained intense.
