WOSHINGTON (News Desk) -United States President Donald Trump has reportedly urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to scale back military strikes on Lebanon in an effort to preserve the fragile ceasefire environment linked to Iran.

According to media reports, the request was made during a recent telephone conversation, shortly after Netanyahu publicly signalled his intention to continue operations in Lebanon despite ongoing diplomatic efforts.
US Vice President JD Vance also indicated that Israel had shown some willingness to exercise restraint in Lebanon to facilitate sensitive negotiations concerning Iran.
However, developments on the ground have painted a different picture. Reports suggest that one of the most intense Israeli bombing campaigns in Lebanon since the start of the Iran-related tensions took place recently, raising concerns about the impact on ongoing diplomatic efforts.
While there has been a slight reduction in the intensity of airstrikes, the Israeli military has continued targeting it claims are linked to Hezbollah, including weapon depots, rocket launchers, and operational centres in southern Lebanon.
The situation remains complex, as both the United States and Israel maintain that Lebanon is not formally included in the ceasefire framework with Iran. In contrast, Tehran, along with mediators including Pakistan, has stressed that de-escalation should extend across the broader region to ensure lasting peace.
Analysts in Pakistan view continued military actions as a potential threat to fragile diplomatic progress, emphasising the importance of restraint and inclusive dialogue to prevent further escalation.
