HARI PUR (News Desk) – At least eight people were killed and eight others injured after a gas pipeline explosion triggered a fire in Haripur’s Hattar Industrial Estate, officials said on Thursday.
Read also: Karachi’s Gul Plaza fire kills dozens, leaves families searching for answers According to District Police Officer Shafiullah Gandapur, the victims belonged to the same family. The blast occurred when a gas pipeline ruptured, sparking a fire that rapidly spread in the area.
Fire brigade teams from five districts took part in efforts to control the blaze, while police and rescue teams jointly carried out relief operations.
Authorities said five bodies were shifted to Kot Najibullah Hospital, while three were taken to a trauma centre. The injured were also moved to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Officials have indicated that an investigation will be conducted to determine the cause of the explosion and review safety protocols in the industrial estate.
