LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency’s Anti-Money Laundering Circle (AMLC) Lahore has formally appreciated Assistant Director Legal Shafaq Ijaz for what it described as her professional competence and effective prosecution in an anti-money laundering case, according to an official letter.
The Letter of Appreciation, issued by Deputy Director AMLC Lahore Muhammad Aman Ullah Khan on Sept. 3, praised Ijaz’s performance while prosecuting FIR No. 03/2026 registered by FIA AMLC Lahore and contesting an accused person’s bail application.
According to the letter, Ijaz demonstrated “exceptional professional competence, sound legal acumen, and commendable prosecutorial skills” during proceedings before the court.

The FIA said she presented evidence gathered during the investigation and organised documentary and circumstantial material concerning alleged proceeds of crime attributed to the accused.

The appreciation letter stated that Ijaz advanced legal arguments and highlighted material available on the record, particularly evidence relating to properties and financial aspects identified during the investigation.
It said her handling of the case, assistance to the court and presentation of the prosecution’s arguments played a significant role in establishing what the FIA described as a strong prima facie case against the accused.

According to the letter, the prosecution ultimately contributed to the dismissal of the accused’s bail application by the court on Sept. 2.

The dismissal of a bail application does not, however, amount to a determination of guilt, and the allegations against an accused remain subject to adjudication by the competent court.

The FIA letter said the outcome reflected Ijaz’s command of law, assessment of evidence, advocacy and commitment towards the prosecution of cases involving money laundering and financial crimes.
Her services and performance in the case were formally appreciated and placed on record, with the FIA expressing the hope that she would continue demonstrating professional commitment, competence and dedication in future prosecutions.

The letter was signed by Deputy Director AMLC Lahore Muhammad Aman Ullah Khan. Copies were also forwarded to the Director FIA Lahore Zone and Deputy Director Administration, with a request that the appreciation be placed in Ijaz’s personal file.
