PESHAWAR (Web Desk) – An anti-terrorism court has issued arrest warrants for Sohail Afridi and several other suspects in the May 9 Radio Pakistan attack case, according to a written court order.
The court issued the warrants under Section 204 of the Code of Criminal Procedure after the prosecution submitted a supplementary police challan naming several individuals who have yet to be arrested.
Those named in the report include Sohail Afridi, Kamran Bangash, Taimur Jhagra, Irfan Saleem and Amir Khan Chamkani. The court order also noted that nine suspects in the Radio Pakistan cases remained absconders.
The written order further stated that Special Prosecutor Naumanul Haq Kakakhel had been denotified. The court subsequently adjourned the hearing until November 4.
Legal experts said the warrants authorise police to arrest the named suspects and produce them before the court. They explained that further proceedings would move forward once the accused appeared before the court.
The experts also noted that suspects who repeatedly fail to appear may face further legal action under applicable law. Any decision regarding custody, bail or other consequences would rest with the competent authorities and the court.
The case relates to the May 9 attack on the Radio Pakistan building in Peshawar, which became part of the legal proceedings following the unrest that year.
