RIYADH (Agencies) At least 14 people were killed after a helicopter operated by Saudi oil giant Aramco crashed near the eastern Saudi city of Ras Tanura, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy confirmed.
According to the ministry, the helicopter went down in the Ras Tanura area, resulting in the deaths of all 14 passengers on board. No survivors were reported.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the identities or nationalities of the victims, nor have they provided details on the cause of the crash.
Emergency response teams were dispatched to the crash site, while officials launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
Saudi Aramco, the world’s largest oil producer, regularly operates helicopters to transport employees and contractors between offshore oil facilities and operational sites across the Kingdom.
The Ministry of Energy said further information would be released as the investigation progresses.
The helicopter crash marks one of the deadliest aviation incidents involving an Aramco-operated aircraft in recent years and is expected to prompt a comprehensive review of flight safety procedures.
