LAHORE: Tight security arrangements have been put in place for the three-day 438th Urs of Hazrat Madho Lal Hussain, popularly known as Mela Chiraghan, which began in the provincial capital on Saturday.
With large crowds expected, Lahore Police have implemented a comprehensive security plan to ensure the peaceful conduct of the festival.
Capital City Police Officer Bilal Siddique Kamyana said senior officers have been directed to oversee field deployments and ensure effective security. Strict checking is being carried out at all entry and exit points using walk-through gates, metal detectors and barricades, while CCTV surveillance is in place for continuous monitoring.
He added that special vigilance is being maintained during key events, including lighting ceremonies and langar distribution, with personnel instructed to remain alert and promptly respond to any suspicious activity.
