MAKKAH (News Desk) – Beneath a harsh desert sun, a sea of white-robed pilgrims converged on the Plain of Arafat and Mount Mercy on Tuesday, marking the emotional and spiritual pinnacle of the annual Haj pilgrimage. Amid soaring temperatures, the day was defined by profound supplications, seamless logistics, and powerful global messages calling for solidarity across the Muslim world.

Delivering the prestigious Haj sermon at Masjid-i-Namirah, Sheikh Ali Al-Hudhaifi, the Imam of the Prophet’s Mosque, made an impassioned plea for unity, peace, and the betterment of conditions for the global Muslim community (Ummah). Concurrently, leadership from Pakistan echoed these sentiments, highlighting the universal values of tolerance, sacrifice, and collective progress.

An Emotional Call for Unity and Piety

In a televised sermon watched by millions worldwide, Sheikh Al-Hudhaifi emphasized that Haj is a foundational pillar of Islam rooted in absolute monotheism (Tawhid) and total submission to Allah. He underscored that the sacred pilgrimage acts as a vital global platform for mutual acquaintance, harmony, and cooperation among Muslims of all nationalities, races, and backgrounds.

“Oh God, improve the conditions of Muslims, create unity among them, and set them on the path of the truth,” the Imam prayed during an emotional conclusion, seeking the acceptance of the pilgrims’ rituals and their safe return home.

Significantly, Sheikh Al-Hudhaifi reminded worshippers that a valid pilgrimage demands excellent conduct, truthful speech, and the absolute avoidance of sins, disputes, and partisan or political slogans. He warned against falsehood, division, and hatred, urging the Ummah to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and patience. True honor, he noted, lies strictly in piety (taqwa) and sincerity.

Following the extensive address, hundreds of thousands of pilgrims performed the combined and shortened Zuhr and Asr prayers within the historic Namirah Mosque—the second-largest mosque in the holy sites, strategically located where Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) delivered his final farewell sermon 1,400 years ago.

Pakistan PM Urges Collective Responsibility and Global Peace

In a statement issued on the Day of Arafat, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended heartfelt felicitations to the global Muslim community and the pilgrims executing their sacred duties. The premier stated that Pakistan, as a nation, stands in collective prayer for peace, security, and stability across the entire world.

PM Shehbaz noted that the dignified gathering of Haj provides a unique annual opportunity for believers to attain divine mercy. He emphasized that the immense diversity of the congregation beautifully mirrors the inherent unity of the Muslim Ummah.

According to the prime minister, the core secret to true national progress and global prosperity rests within this shared spirit of love, sacrifice, and mutual cooperation. He concluded with a prayer that global justice, tolerance, and brotherhood be reinforced to ensure the welfare and well-being of all humanity.

Logistical Success and Path to Mina

The day also marked a major success for Saudi transport authorities. The Makkah General Transport Centre announced that the massive movement of pilgrims to Arafat was completed by 7:56 AM—shattering previous records by wrapping up two hours ahead of last year’s schedule. The seamless operation utilized shuttle buses, traditional transport networks, and the Al Mashaaer Al Mugaddassah Metro line.

As the sun set over Mount Arafat, the vast crowd began moving toward Muzdalifah. Worshippers will spend the night under the open sky collecting pebbles before proceeding to Mina on Wednesday morning for the symbolic “stoning of the devil” ritual, marking the beginning of Eid-ul-Adha.
