Akram, who is currently in Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj, was filmed during the symbolic stoning of the devil at Jamarat, one of the key rituals undertaken by pilgrims during the annual Islamic pilgrimage. The former Pakistan captain appeared to throw pebbles towards the designated structure using a bowling action that closely resembled the famous inswing yorkers that made him one of the greatest fast bowlers in cricket history.

The video, which has been widely shared on social media platforms, shows Akram approaching the Jamarat before delivering the pebbles with a smooth and familiar bowling motion. Moments later, he can be seen smiling and celebrating in a manner that reminded fans of his iconic wicket-taking celebrations on the cricket field.

The clip quickly attracted thousands of views, comments and shares, with many users describing the moment as a unique blend of sporting nostalgia and personal faith. Cricket supporters praised Akram for maintaining his trademark style even while performing one of the most significant religious obligations for Muslims.

Known globally as the “Sultan of Swing”, Akram enjoyed a distinguished international career spanning nearly two decades. He represented Pakistan in 104 Test matches and 356 One-Day Internationals, claiming more than 900 international wickets. His ability to swing the ball at high pace and deliver devastating yorkers earned him a place among the sport’s all-time greats.

While the viral moment was shared in a humorous context, many social media users also highlighted the spiritual significance of Hajj, noting that millions of Muslims from around the world travel to the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah each year to fulfil the religious obligation.

This year’s pilgrimage has once again attracted several prominent Pakistani personalities, including former athletes, television stars and public figures. Their presence has generated considerable interest among followers back home, with many sharing updates and photographs from the holy sites.

The popularity of Akram’s video reflects the enduring affection cricket fans continue to hold for the former fast bowler, years after his retirement from international cricket. Even outside the cricket stadium, his distinctive bowling action remains instantly recognisable to supporters around the globe.

As the video continues to circulate online, it has become one of the most talked-about moments involving a Pakistani sports personality during this year’s Hajj season, offering fans a rare glimpse of their sporting hero in a deeply personal and spiritual setting.
