WASHINGTON (Web Desk) – US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that the United States has launched “major combat operations” against Iran, cautioning that American forces could suffer casualties as the conflict intensifies.

In a video message shared on Truth Social and X, Trump stated that the strikes are aimed at destroying Iranian missile capabilities and “annihilating” the country’s naval assets. He stressed that the decision was not taken lightly, describing it as a mission intended to secure America’s future.
“The Iranian regime seeks to kill,” Trump said, adding that while US troops may face losses — “which often happens in war” — the operation was necessary and “noble.”
Trump directly addressed members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, urging them to lay down their weapons. He said those who surrender would be granted immunity, warning that the alternative would be “certain death.”
Nuclear talks collapse
The military escalation follows weeks of diplomatic engagement between Washington and Tehran over Iran’s nuclear programme. The most recent round of talks took place on Thursday but ended without an agreement.
“Iran refused, just as it has for decades,” Trump said, accusing Tehran of rejecting opportunities to abandon its nuclear ambitions. “We can’t take it anymore,” he added.
Allegations of regional attacks
Trump accused Iran and its regional allies of orchestrating repeated attacks against American forces and interests in the Middle East. He said US naval and commercial vessels had also been targeted.
“It’s been mass terror, and we’re not going to put up with it any longer,” the president declared.
He further alleged that from Lebanon to Yemen and Syria to Iraq, Iran has armed and financed militant groups responsible for widespread violence.
Referring to the October 7 attacks on Israel, Trump blamed Iran-backed Hamas, saying more than 1,000 people were killed, including 46 Americans, and 12 US citizens were taken hostage.
The remarks mark one of the strongest public justifications yet from Washington for direct military action against Tehran, raising fears of a broader regional conflict.
