ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced another increase in petroleum product prices, pushing petrol to Rs349 per litre and high-speed diesel to Rs374.31 per litre.

According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the price of petrol has been increased by Rs2.84 per litre, adding further pressure on motorists already facing elevated fuel costs.

The revised prices will take effect from September 4, 2026, according to the notification.

However, the government has specified that the latest prices will remain applicable for one day, indicating an unusually short pricing period.

Changes in petrol and diesel prices have a broad impact on consumers because fuel costs directly affect transportation expenses and can feed into the prices of goods and services.

Diesel prices are particularly important for the transport and agriculture sectors, as the fuel is widely used by heavy vehicles, commercial transport and agricultural machinery.

The latest increase comes amid continued public attention on petroleum prices and fuel-related taxation in the country.
