ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Pakistan’s national football team is set to make history after securing a place in the inaugural FIFA ASEAN Cup following an official invitation from FIFA, sources confirmed.
According to officials, the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) has accepted the invitation, paving the way for the country’s first participation in a FIFA-organised tournament of this kind.
The competition is scheduled to be held in Indonesia from September 21 to October 6, 2026, as part of a new initiative aimed at expanding international football opportunities and strengthening regional competition.
Pakistan will compete in Division 1 alongside India, hosts Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand, setting up a challenging and highly competitive group stage.
The development is being hailed as a significant milestone for Pakistan football, offering the national side valuable exposure against stronger regional opponents beyond traditional FIFA World Cup qualifiers and continental competitions.
Officials said Pakistan’s inclusion follows growing engagement between FIFA and the PFF leadership, which helped facilitate the team’s participation in the tournament.
The event is expected to provide Pakistan with an important platform to enhance its international profile and build momentum for the future development of the sport in the country.
