ASSAM (Web Desk) – The Indian Air Force (IAF) suffered another setback on Saturday after an Antonov AN-32 military transport aircraft was involved in an accident in Assam’s Jorhat district.
According to Indian media reports, including India Today, the aircraft caught fire shortly after landing. Emergency response teams rushed to the scene to contain the situation.
The Indian Air Force confirmed the incident but has not yet released further details regarding possible casualties or the extent of the damage caused by the fire.
The latest accident adds to growing concerns over the IAF’s aviation safety record. Reports indicate that the force has witnessed multiple crashes and operational incidents involving military aircraft during the current calendar year.
Defence analysts say the recurring mishaps have raised questions about maintenance standards, operational preparedness and the overall condition of ageing military equipment. The repeated incidents have intensified scrutiny of the Indian Air Force’s safety protocols and technical capabilities.
Authorities are expected to launch an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
