BEIJING ( Sports Desk)- Pakistan enjoyed another encouraging day at the Junior Hockey Asia Cup in China, with the men’s team extending their perfect run through a convincing 3-0 victory over Bangladesh and the women’s side booking a place in the quarterfinals following a 1-1 draw with Kazakhstan.
The junior men completed the group stage at the top of their pool after registering their fourth consecutive victory of the tournament, keeping their unbeaten record intact ahead of the knockout phase.
Pakistan will face South Korea in Friday’s semifinal, where victory would put them within one match of the continental title.
The national side made its intentions clear early against Bangladesh, pressing forward aggressively and creating scoring opportunities from the opening minutes.
Rana Waleed emerged as the standout performer during Pakistan’s impressive start, scoring twice in quick succession.
He broke the deadlock with a field goal in the ninth minute before striking again just three minutes later to put Pakistan firmly in command at 2-0.
The two early goals allowed Pakistan to dictate the pace of the contest while Bangladesh struggled to break through a disciplined Pakistani defence.

The third and decisive goal arrived in the 52nd minute when Ghulam Mustafa finished an impressive field move to make it 3-0 and effectively settle the contest.
Bangladesh were unable to respond during the closing stages, allowing Pakistan to complete another clean-sheet victory and maintain their winning momentum heading into the semifinal.
Four successive victories have made Pakistan one of the form teams of the competition, although the semifinal against South Korea is expected to provide a sterner test.
Pakistan will now seek to carry the confidence generated during the group stage into the knockout contest. Meanwhile, the Pakistan junior women demonstrated resilience to secure the result they needed against Kazakhstan and progress to the quarterfinals.
Kazakhstan struck first through Aman Geldi Zhansaya in the 15th minute, putting Pakistan under pressure to find a response.
The national women’s side continued pushing for an equaliser but remained behind for much of the match.
With time running out, captain Shariqa Sarwar delivered the crucial breakthrough in the 55th minute, converting a field opportunity to level the scores at 1-1.
The late equaliser proved enough to secure Pakistan’s qualification for the quarterfinals.
