ISLAMABAD: Senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Salman Akram Raja, has declared that no major constitutional or political changes will be acceptable in the country until free, fair, and transparent elections are held to restore genuine public representation.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Raja highlighted the economic plight of citizens, stating that farmers, laborers, and the general public are facing severe financial hardship under the current administration. He argued that the present Parliament and provincial assemblies lack true democratic legitimacy, claiming they were formed through a flawed electoral process.

Commenting on debates surrounding national reform—including proposals for creating new provinces—Raja noted that while discussions on provincial restructuring could take place in principle, no binding constitutional decisions should be executed by the sitting legislature. He emphasized that any major national consensus or legislative shift must involve direct consultation with, and the explicit consent of, the PTI founder.

Outlining the party’s immediate demands, the PTI leader called for urgent medical attention and hospital transfer for the imprisoned party chief, followed by the dismissal of all legal cases against him and his unconditional release. Raja asserted that the PTI founder’s role in mainstream national politics must be fully acknowledged for political stability. He further announced that the party’s planned protest campaign starting September 27 would not be a single-day demonstration, calling on the public to actively join nationwide efforts for democratic reform.
