Pakistan, Azerbaijan reaffirm commitment to expanding cooperation in trade, energy and investment

LAHORE: Acting Governor Punjab and Speaker of the Punjab Assembly Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan has said that Pakistan and Azerbaijan enjoy fraternal relations built on mutual trust, shared values, and decades-long friendship.

He made these remarks during a farewell meeting with Azerbaijan’s outgoing Ambassador to Pakistan Khazar Farhadov at the Governor’s House Lahore. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations and exploring new avenues of cooperation between the two brotherly countries.

During the discussion, both sides reviewed opportunities to enhance collaboration in key areas including trade, investment, energy, education, tourism, and people-to-people contacts.

Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan said Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with Azerbaijan and believes that both countries have significant potential to expand economic and strategic cooperation.

He emphasised that Pakistan and Azerbaijan should utilise available opportunities to increase bilateral trade and investment, particularly in sectors that can contribute to economic growth and development in both countries.

“The relationship between Pakistan and Azerbaijan is based on mutual respect, shared values, and enduring friendship,” the Acting Governor said, adding that stronger cooperation in energy, education, tourism, and business sectors would further strengthen the partnership.

He also appreciated the diplomatic efforts of Ambassador Khazar Farhadov during his tenure in Pakistan, stating that his services played an important role in promoting closer ties between the two nations.

Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan extended his best wishes to the outgoing ambassador for his future diplomatic responsibilities and expressed hope that Pakistan-Azerbaijan relations would continue to flourish.

Ambassador Khazar Farhadov thanked the government and people of Pakistan for their support, cooperation, and hospitality throughout his assignment. He expressed confidence that the historic friendship between the two countries would continue to grow in the coming years.

The ambassador reiterated his commitment to promoting bilateral cooperation, economic partnerships, investment opportunities, and cultural exchanges between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.

The meeting was also attended by Punjab Assembly Secretary General Chaudhry Amer Habib, Speaker’s Adviser Usama Khawar, Principal Secretary Amad Hussain Bhalli, Malik Taimoor, and Malik Ali.

Pakistan and Azerbaijan have maintained close diplomatic relations for decades, with both countries frequently supporting each other on regional and international issues. Recent years have witnessed increased cooperation in defence, energy, tourism, and economic sectors, reflecting the shared commitment of both nations to deepen their strategic partnership.
