The speech will mark his first direct message to the Iranian public since he was named the country’s new leader by the Assembly of Experts.
Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was selected as the third leader of the Islamic Republic following his father’s death during escalating conflict involving the United States and Israel.
The Assembly of Experts, an 88-member clerical body responsible for choosing Iran’s supreme leader, announced the decision after an emergency process amid the country’s wartime conditions.
Analysts say the upcoming speech will be closely watched both inside Iran and internationally as it could outline the new leader’s strategy on the ongoing regional conflict, relations with the West, and Iran’s domestic political direction.
Mojtaba Khamenei, a mid-ranking cleric with strong ties to Iran’s powerful Revolutionary Guards, has long been considered influential behind the scenes despite never holding elected office.
His appointment marks a historic moment for Iran, becoming the first time the son of a supreme leader has directly succeeded his father since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
Observers say his inaugural speech may signal whether Iran intends to escalate or stabilise the ongoing regional tensions.
