LONDON | June 2, 2026 – England’s rise in women’s cricket has received another boost as spinner Linsey Smith has climbed to the summit of the ICC Women’s T20I Bowling Rankings, achieving the No. 1 position for the first time in her career.
The left-arm spinner’s ascent comes after a series of standout performances against both New Zealand and India, where she consistently troubled batters with her accuracy and control. Her impressive displays earned her valuable ranking points, allowing her to move ahead of Pakistan’s Sadia Iqbal, who previously occupied the top spot among T20I bowlers.
Smith’s achievement marks a significant milestone in her international career and highlights her growing influence within England’s bowling attack. Her recent success has also strengthened England’s presence in the ICC rankings, reflecting the team’s strong performances in the shortest format of the game.
While Smith celebrated her rise to the top, Pakistan continued to maintain representation among the leading bowlers. Left-arm spinner Nashra Sandhu retained her position in ninth place, remaining the country’s highest-ranked bowler in the latest update. However, Pakistan captain Fatima Sana experienced a setback, slipping six places from 28th to 34th in the bowling rankings.
The latest rankings update also brought developments in the batting charts. Australia’s Georgia Voll continued to lead the ICC Women’s T20I Batting Rankings, maintaining her status as the highest-ranked batter in the format. Her consistency at the top has reinforced Australia’s dominance in women’s cricket and underlined her growing reputation on the international stage.
For Pakistan, there was positive news in the batting department as opener Muniba Ali registered an improvement in the standings. The experienced batter moved up two places to claim 33rd position, reflecting her recent contributions with the bat and providing encouragement for Pakistan ahead of upcoming international assignments.
The latest ICC rankings showcase a changing landscape in women’s T20I cricket, with players from England, Pakistan, and Australia continuing to make significant impacts. Smith’s rise to No. 1 stands out as the headline development, signaling a new chapter in the bowling rankings while intensifying competition among the world’s leading performers.
