LAHORE: Chinese companies participating in the GISMA Guangzhou Exhibition have offered Pakistan access to advanced footwear industry technology along with broad cooperation in industrial development.

According to Muhammad Yasin, Chairman of the Pakistan Industrial Sewing Machines Importers and Dealers Association (PISMIDA), discussions held with GISMA Guangzhou Exhibition President Zhan Ming and several Chinese firms confirmed their readiness to supply Pakistan with modern footwear machinery, equipment, and accessory-related technologies.

He said the machinery showcased at the exhibition demonstrated exceptionally high production capacity and advanced technological standards that are still rarely available in Pakistan, while countries such as Bangladesh, India, and Vietnam are already widely benefiting from similar systems.

Muhammad Yasin noted that PISMIDA and GISMA already maintain a five-year cooperation agreement. He added that preliminary talks were also held regarding hosting a similar exhibition in Pakistan next year, with strong participation expected from Chinese companies.

Speaking alongside GISMA’s Foreign Trade Manager Ms. Zoe Chow, he stated that Chinese organizations have assured support for upgrading Pakistan’s industrial base. He emphasized that adopting modern technology would enable local manufacturers to produce world-class goods, significantly boosting exports and increasing foreign exchange earnings.

He further informed that a six-member Pakistani delegation attended the international exhibition and later visited several Chinese cities, where they met representatives of industrial organizations. These meetings focused on modern technology transfer, potential investment and cooperation opportunities for Pakistan, and skill development and training for the workforce.

He urged the government to take the offer seriously and capitalize on the proposed technology transfer cooperation, stating that it could help Pakistan’s footwear industry achieve international standards and enhance its competitiveness in global markets.

Ms. Zoe Chow, Foreign Trade Manager of GISMA, expressed her interest in strengthening long-term cooperation between Pakistani and Chinese companies. She said Pakistani businesses should fully benefit from the opportunities being offered by Chinese firms and assured her full support in facilitating such collaborations.
