LAHORE: Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) and the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) entered into a strategic partnership to collaborate in various areas including space science, GIS and climate research. Both institutions also agreed to form a mechanism for integrated research and academic exchange in critical disciplines such as environment, climate change, artificial intelligence, urban ecology, informatics, and disaster management.

It will also support satellite, aerial, and ground-based studies, facilitate the preparation of joint research proposals for national and international funding, promote capacity building of postgraduate students and researchers, and encourage organization of workshops, seminars, and symposia—while leaving room for further cooperation in mutually agreed areas. An MoU was signed in this regard at LCWU here on Friday. Prof. Dr. Uzma Qureshi, Vice Chancellor of LCWU, and Raheem Sanaullah, P.o.P, Member Space Electronics, SUPARCO, signed the MoU. The delegation from SUPARCO included Syed Abdul Basit Bukhari (Director General Coordination), Faran Chaudhry (Director TD & SOP), Muhammad Mansha (Director SPARS), Majid Masood (General Manager SPARS), and Farooq Ishaq (Manager HR & Coordination). Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Uzma Qureshi appreciated the vision and efforts of Dr. Nausheen Mazhar, Chairperson of the Geography Department and focal person for the MoU and emphasized that this partnership marks a significant milestone in connecting academia with national space technology institutions. She stated that the collaboration is not only aimed at academic advancement but also at contributing toward national resilience and development through evidence-based research.
