LAHORE : –In a major crackdown on illegal weapons, Lahore Police have arrested 1,884 individuals so far this year for unlawful possession and public display of arms, officials confirmed on Thursday.

According to police data, 1,882 cases have been registered against the accused across various police stations in the city. During the ongoing operations, authorities also seized a large cache of weapons, including three Kalashnikovs, 37 rifles, 52 shotguns and 1,684 pistols.
Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana stated that the campaign against illegal arms is being conducted without discrimination to uphold the rule of law. He warned that no individual would be allowed to challenge the writ of the state, adding that strict action would be taken against violators.
The CCPO directed police officers to intensify operations against those spreading fear and unrest through the display and use of weapons. He also ordered a crackdown on so-called “dalla culture” and any public exhibition of firearms.
Emphasising the role of digital surveillance, Kamyana instructed authorities to closely monitor social media platforms for content involving aerial firing and weapon display, warning that those involved would face legal consequences.
He further urged citizens to act responsibly and contribute to promoting respect for the law within society.
