KARACHI — A sessions court on Thursday cleared alleged narcotics supplier Anmol Pinky, in three drug-related cases registered against her at the Gizri police station.

The three separate cases were initially filed between 2020 and 2022, during which she was listed as an absconder by law enforcement agencies.

Additional District and Sessions Judge (South) Irshad Hussain presided over the legal proceedings and reviewed the acquittal applications submitted by her defense team.

During the hearing, the defense counsel argued that her client was implicated solely on the testimony of co-accused individuals who had already been cleared of charges by the court.

The lawyer emphasized that following the exoneration of the primary suspects, holding her client legally liable was unwarranted.

Court records indicate that in one instance from 2021, two individuals apprehended with illicit substances alleged during interrogation that she had provided the contraband.

A recent supplementary investigation report filed by the Counter-Terrorism Department indicated that she faces charges in more than twelve separate criminal matters.

The accused was taken into custody in May during a police operation related to weapon possession and narcotics charges logged at the Garden police station.

Her initial production in court stirred significant public interest after video footage showing her being escorted without hand restraints circulated across social media platforms.

Following her arrest, she has consistently been produced for hearings under strict police security protocols.

During previous appearances, the accused claimed before the media that law enforcement personnel were attempting to pressure her into implicating political figures and prominent individuals.

What This Means for the Common Reader
Highlights Evidentiary Standards: The decision demonstrates that suspect confessions or statements made in police custody against others cannot stand in court without independent, corroborating physical evidence.

Impact on High-Profile Investigations: Legal loopholes and weak initial witness statements can cause major criminal cases against key suspects to collapse in the judicial system.

Public Scrutiny on Law Enforcement: The acquittal puts additional pressure on police and investigative agencies like the CTD to present stronger, airtight evidence when prosecuting complex narcotics cases.
