BEIRUT (Web Desk) – Tensions remain high along the Israel-Lebanon border despite a ceasefire, with Israeli officials reaffirming that troops will continue operating in southern Lebanon under what they describe as a security zone.
Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said the military would retain its positions to safeguard northern Israeli communities and preserve security gains achieved during recent operations. He added that Israeli forces would continue acting against any perceived threats.
Hezbollah, however, has maintained that the ceasefire can only succeed if both sides fully adhere to its terms. The group reiterated its opposition to any long-term Israeli military presence inside Lebanese territory.
The latest developments come after months of conflict that resulted in heavy casualties and widespread destruction across border regions. While reports indicate a significant reduction in hostilities in recent hours, concerns remain over the durability of the truce.
Diplomatic efforts are continuing alongside broader regional negotiations aimed at reducing tensions and preventing a return to large-scale fighting. International observers have urged all parties to respect ceasefire commitments and pursue dialogue to ensure lasting stability.
Analysts say the coming days will be crucial in determining whether the ceasefire can hold and pave the way for a broader political solution in the region.
