RAWALPINDI (Web Desk) – Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has said that 274 militants were killed and 400 injured during ‘Operation Ghazab-ul-Haq’, conducted against outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) hideouts.

Addressing a press conference on Friday regarding the evolving situation along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, the military spokesperson said the prime minister had been given a detailed briefing on the operation shortly before the media interaction.

He stated that the action was taken against the banned TTP, adding that the purpose of the briefing was to provide comprehensive details of the operation carried out on the nights of February 21 and 22.

“Militant hideouts were precisely targeted,” Lt Gen Chaudhry said, alleging that elements within the Afghan Taliban regime were providing backing to the militants. He maintained that Pakistan had acted in response to persistent threats emanating from across the border.

According to the ISPR chief, 274 militants — referred to as ‘khawarij’ — were killed and 400 injured during the operation. He further claimed that 73 posts were destroyed and 18 taken over, while 115 tanks and armoured vehicles were also neutralised.

“Militants fled the battlefield, leaving behind the bodies of their associates,” he said, adding that 22 hideouts linked to what he termed ‘Fitna al-Hindustan’ and ‘Fitna al-Khawarij’ were targeted with precision.

The military spokesperson confirmed that 12 Pakistani soldiers were martyred while fighting against the militants. “Our 12 brave sons embraced martyrdom while defending the nation,” he said.

Lt Gen Chaudhry added that targets in Kabul, Paktia, Paktika, Khost and Kandahar were struck with accuracy as part of the operation.

The press conference comes amid heightened tensions between Islamabad and Kabul over cross-border militancy, with Pakistan repeatedly urging Afghan authorities to prevent their soil from being used for attacks against it.
