Approximately 2,238 pilgrims arrived on April 10 to take part in the Baisakhi celebrations. Although around 2,800 visas were issued this year, nearly 600 pilgrims could not make the journey.

To mark the conclusion of their visit, the Punjab government arranged a cultural evening at Hazuri Bagh, along with a special ceremony at the Dayal Singh Trust Library under the World Centre for Punjabi.

The event at Hazuri Bagh featured vibrant cultural performances and traditional music, creating a festive environment. Sikh pilgrims actively participated, enjoying the performances and dancing bhangra, which reflected a spirit of joy and unity.

The Chairman of the Evacuee Trust Property Board, Qamaruz Zaman, described the cultural night as a symbol of interfaith harmony and hospitality, highlighting Pakistan’s commitment to facilitating pilgrims worldwide. He expressed hope that the visit would remain a cherished memory for the guests.

Shrines Additional Secretary Nasir Mushtaq noted the deep historical connection of Sikhism with this region and praised the strong bonds between Sikh and Muslim communities. Punjab Minister for Minority Affairs Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora shared emotional remarks, stating that many pilgrims were deeply moved by their experience and reluctant to leave.

During their stay, pilgrims offered prayers at Gurdwara Sri Dera Sahib for peace and harmony, including improved relations between Pakistan and India.

They also visited key landmarks such as the Lahore Fort, explored the Walled City, and toured areas like the Mall and Liberty Chowk on double-decker buses. In addition, they visited popular markets including Anarkali Bazaar and Shah Alam Market.

Speaking to the media, Jatha leader Sardar Surjit Singh praised the excellent condition and security of gurdwaras in Pakistan. Other pilgrims also expressed satisfaction with the facilities provided and thanked the Punjab government and ETPB for their warm hospitality.
