LAHORE – A tragic incident in Lahore’s Ichhra area has shocked residents after the body of a 10-year-old girl was found inside the washroom of a private tuition centre, prompting police to launch a comprehensive murder investigation.

The victim, identified as Naima, had left her home to attend her routine tuition classes but failed to return. Concerned family members began searching for her before receiving the devastating news that her body had been discovered inside the educational facility.

Police officials said the girl’s body was found with visible injury marks around her neck, indicating that she may have been strangled. Investigators have not yet confirmed the exact cause of death and are awaiting the postmortem report to determine how the child died.

Soon after receiving information about the incident, senior police officers reached the scene along with forensic experts and crime scene investigators. The area surrounding the tuition centre was sealed while officers collected physical evidence and recorded statements from teachers, staff members and nearby residents.

The body was shifted to the morgue for a detailed autopsy, which investigators hope will provide crucial information regarding the time, cause and circumstances of death.

Police officials said CCTV footage from the tuition centre and nearby commercial establishments is being examined to establish the girl’s movements before the incident and identify anyone who entered or left the building around the relevant time.

Investigators are also reviewing attendance records, interviewing classmates and questioning employees associated with the tuition centre to determine whether anyone observed suspicious activity.

Officials stated that every possible angle is being investigated, including personal enmity, attempted abduction and other criminal motives. However, they cautioned against speculation until forensic reports and evidence are fully examined.

Authorities have assured the victim’s family that those responsible will be traced and brought before the law.

The heartbreaking incident has sparked grief and concern throughout the local community, with residents demanding swift justice and stronger safety measures for children attending schools and tuition centres.

Parents living in the area expressed fears over children’s security and called for improved surveillance systems, stricter background checks for educational staff and enhanced monitoring around private learning institutions.

Child rights advocates said the tragedy highlights the urgent need for stronger child protection mechanisms, improved emergency response systems and greater cooperation between educational institutions and law enforcement agencies.

Police officials confirmed that legal proceedings have begun and that multiple investigative teams are working simultaneously to solve the case.

Forensic specialists continue examining evidence recovered from the scene, including fingerprints, biological samples and other materials that may assist investigators.

Authorities believe scientific analysis and digital evidence will play an important role in identifying the suspect and reconstructing the sequence of events leading to the child’s death.

Investigators have appealed to members of the public to share any information that could assist the inquiry, particularly individuals who may have seen the victim travelling to or from the tuition centre.

Police also urged social media users to avoid spreading unverified information that could interfere with the investigation or cause unnecessary distress to the victim’s family.

Senior officers said the case remains a top priority, with regular progress reports being submitted to provincial authorities.

The incident has once again drawn attention to child safety concerns in urban areas, prompting calls for educational institutions to strengthen security arrangements, install functional surveillance cameras and develop emergency protocols for protecting students.

As forensic examinations continue and investigators analyze available evidence, police remain confident that the investigation will establish the facts surrounding the tragic death and help identify those responsible.

The victim’s family has appealed for justice while urging authorities to ensure that such incidents are prevented in the future through stricter security measures and effective law enforcement.
