LAHORE: The Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Control Department (ET&NC) Punjab has intensified its crackdown against the agent mafia and unauthorised private individuals by introducing stricter entry controls at its Farid Court House office.

The move has been initiated on the directions of Director Excise Region-C Jam Siraj, under which only genuine applicants and individuals directly related to official matters are now being allowed entry after proper verification.

According to departmental sources, a special facilitation and verification counter has been established at the entrance of the Farid Court House Excise office to streamline public dealing and prevent interference by unauthorized persons.

Strict verification system introduced

Under the new mechanism, applicants will undergo verification before entering the office premises. Details related to vehicles, ownership documents and relevant cases will be checked at the entry point to ensure that only legitimate citizens seeking government services are facilitated.

The department has also restricted the entry of touts and private agents, who have long been accused of creating difficulties for citizens and influencing official procedures.

Male and female inspectors deployed for public facilitation

To improve public guidance and ensure transparency, the department has deployed one male and one female inspector at the ground-level desk.

The officials will assist citizens regarding their cases, guide them through official procedures and help eliminate dependence on unauthorised intermediaries.

Sources said Director Excise Region-C Jam Siraj has issued clear instructions to inspectors, constables and other departmental staff that unnecessary entry of private individuals into government offices and any alleged corrupt practices would not be tolerated.

Focus on transparency and citizen-friendly services

The department has directed officials to ensure that citizens receive services through proper channels without facing unnecessary hurdles.

Officials have also been instructed to maintain transparency in vehicle-related matters, ownership transfers and other public services handled by the Excise Department.

The latest measures are part of a broader effort to improve governance, reduce the role of middlemen and restore public confidence in departmental procedures.
