LAHORE – A high-powered delegation of traders and industrialists called on Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman to discuss the prevailing economic situation and challenges confronting the business community.
The delegation was led by Vice President SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mian Anjum Nisar. He was accompanied by Senior Vice President of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Khalid Usman, former LCCI President Muhammad Ali Mian, PIAF Chairman Faheem-ur-Rehman Saigol and others
During the meeting, the delegation apprised the JI chief of the serious concerns of the industrial and trading sectors regarding rising inflation, high cost of doing business, energy shortages, and heavy taxation. They emphasized that the private sector, being the backbone of the national economy, required a more business-friendly environment to boost industrial growth, exports, and job creation.
Mian Anjum Nisar underlined that the government must take concrete steps to reduce energy tariffs, bring down interest rates, and ensure consistency in economic policies. He said frequent changes in taxation measures were hampering business planning and investment.
Khalid Usman also highlighted the importance of fostering closer cooperation between political leadership and the business community to tackle economic challenges collectively.
Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman appreciated the role of PIAF in safeguarding the interests of the business community and assured the delegation that Jamaat-e-Islami would continue to raise its voice for economic justice, fair taxation, and the promotion of trade and industry.
The meeting concluded with a consensus that political parties and business organizations must work hand in hand to put Pakistan on the path of economic stability and prosperity
