LAHORE: The Punjab government decided to introduce cooperative farming to increase cultivation of vegetables including tomatoes and onions.

Vegetable farmer group consisting of 5 to 10 farmers will get subsidy on seeds, fertilizers, drip irrigation and solarization.
In Punjab, a project of cultivation of onion and tomato will be launched on 2000 acres.
Due to the off-season cultivation, there will be no artificial inflation due to local availability of onions and tomatoes in Punjab for 6 months.
Off-season tomato cultivation plan in Kahrupka, Rahim Yar Khan, Wahari and Rajanpur, onion, Khushab, Chakwal, Pindi and Jhelum.
Approval to start agriculture machinery rental services across Punjab for the convenience of farmers.
Tractors, harvesters and other modern agricultural machinery will be available on rent to farmers on a No-Profit, No-Loss basis.
Joint working group established for selection of more than 67 locations and agricultural machinery.
