ROME (News Desk) – Ferrari has officially entered the electric vehicle race with the unveiling of its first fully electric model, “Luce”, signalling a historic shift for the iconic Italian performance brand as the global auto industry moves toward electrification.
The launch comes at a sensitive moment for luxury automakers, many of whom are slowing or recalibrating their EV ambitions amid fluctuating demand, making Ferrari’s bold move both a strategic gamble and a statement of intent about the future of high-performance driving.
The four-door model is being described as Ferrari’s first-ever five-seater vehicle. Its design has been developed in collaboration with former Apple chief designer Jony Ive and his creative firm LoveFrom.
Unlike traditional Ferrari sports cars, the “Luce” features a more spacious design with extensive use of glass. The interior combines leather, glass and anodised aluminium, while retaining physical buttons alongside a modern touchscreen system.
In terms of performance, the electric car weighs around 2.2 tonnes and is powered by four electric motors—one for each wheel—producing over 1,000 horsepower in total.
Ferrari claims the vehicle can reach speeds of over 310 km/h and offers a driving range of more than 500 kilometres on a single charge.
Interestingly, despite being fully electric, the company has introduced artificial engine-like vibrations to preserve the traditional Ferrari driving feel inside the cabin.
With a 600-litre boot space and advanced technology features, the luxury EV is priced at approximately €550,000 (around $640,000).
Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna said the project is the result of five years of development, with deliveries expected to begin in the final quarter of 2026.
