The committee reviewed multiple audit paras relating to the Home Department, its attached departments, and autonomous bodies.
Key issues discussed included irregular drawal of salary in BPS-17 instead of BPS-16 for the post of Inspector, unauthorised payments of pay and allowances, inadmissible claims against certain posts, and financial losses caused by non- or short-deduction of applicable taxes.
The audit also highlighted unjustified delays in payments to vendors and slow progress in criminal prosecution related to a case involving a specified amount.
The committee directed all concerned departments to prioritise the completion of pending recoveries without further delay and ensure compliance with financial rules.
