Punjab Assembly condemns Balochistan terror attack in opposition’s absence

LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly on Monday unanimously passed a resolution condemning a recent terrorist incident in Balochistan, despite the absence of opposition memembers.

The assembly session, chaired by Panel of Chairpersons Samiullah Khan, began after a significant delay. During the question hour, members discussed issues related to the energy department, with Parliamentary Secretary Mansoor Azam responding to queries. Attendance was low, with only 28 members present on the government benches, while opposition benches remained empty.

Speaking in the house, Uzma Kardar highlighted errors in the computerized land record system, noting discrepancies in registered land and incorrect Khatuni numbers. Parliamentary Secretary Khalid Mahmood Ranjha acknowledged the mistakes, stating the system is new and would be corrected over time.

Chief Whip PML-N Rana Muhammad Arshad praised the Punjab Chief Minister for efforts to restore Basant festivities.

The session concluded with the unanimous passage of a resolution expressing condolences to the families of the martyrs and demanding strict action against the perpetrators. Panel Chairperson Samiullah Khan adjourned the meeting until 11 a.m. tomorrow to continue with the remaining agenda.
