LAHORE (Web Desk) — Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari on Thursday issued a public apology on social media after acknowledging that incorrect information was shared regarding the Bhatti Gate incident.
Expressing regret, Bokhari said she was deeply saddened and embarrassed by the tragic event, adding that the administration had provided her with inaccurate details that were later proven wrong.
She praised Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for not concealing mistakes and for openly expressing remorse over the incident. Bokhari said the chief minister had ordered the arrest of those found responsible and reaffirmed that the loss of human life would not be tolerated in Punjab.
The information minister said she had relayed what was initially communicated to her by officials and was even prepared to resign over the controversy. However, she added that the chief minister directed her to continue, stating the error did not stem from her personally.
