LAHORE: Lahore Police have intensified citywide security and enforcement operations, arresting more than 16,300 proclaimed offenders during the ongoing year alongside Eid-ul-Adha security measures and preparations for the upcoming Muharram-ul-Haram.
According to police officials, the large-scale crackdown on proclaimed offenders forms the backbone of the city’s law and order strategy, aimed at curbing crime through intelligence-based policing and sustained field operations.
Police reported that 3,192 Category-A and 13,204 Category-B proclaimed offenders were arrested during targeted operations conducted across Lahore. The arrests were made through coordinated intelligence-led raids and continuous surveillance activities.
Capital City Police Officer Lahore, Bilal Siddique Kamyana, said indiscriminate action was being taken against criminal elements to make the city safer for residents. He stated that arrests of individuals involved in serious offences were producing positive results in improving law and order and dismantling criminal networks.
The CCPO added that Lahore Police were utilising both human intelligence and modern digital technologies to track down and dismantle networks of proclaimed offenders and ensure their arrest and prosecution.
He further directed field officers to intensify operations against Category-B offenders and ensure effective follow-up of all wanted suspects. Police teams have been instructed to carry out intelligence-based operations regularly to apprehend proclaimed offenders and present them before courts without delay.
Reaffirming the department’s commitment to public safety, the CCPO said special operational tasks had been assigned to field units and that no effort would be spared to protect citizens’ lives and property and promote a peaceful environment across the provincial capital.
Officials said these enforcement actions are part of a broader policing strategy that also includes Eid-ul-Adha security measures, during which 189 individuals were arrested for violations and 152 cases were registered. Strict action was also taken against illegal collection of sacrificial animal hides, resulting in 80 arrests and 70 cases.
In parallel, Lahore Police have finalised comprehensive security arrangements for the upcoming Muharram-ul-Haram following a high-level meeting chaired by the CCPO. The plan includes strict surveillance of sensitive areas, rooftop deployment along procession routes, enhanced traffic management, and coordination with district administration, peace committees and religious organisers.
Authorities said the integrated approach reflects a sustained effort to ensure law and order, prevent crime, and maintain peaceful conditions in Lahore during both routine and religiously significant periods.
