MULTAN | June 9, 2026 – Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has unveiled an ambitious initiative to modernize government schools across the province, describing it as a key step toward improving educational standards under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
During his visit to Multan, the minister inaugurated several development projects at Government Aam Khas High School and reviewed the progress of ongoing education reforms. Accompanied by Provincial Secretary School Education Mudassar Riaz Malik, he also laid the foundation stone for the construction of additional classrooms at the institution.
Addressing officials and stakeholders, Rana Sikandar Hayat said the School Education Department was rapidly expanding educational infrastructure by building new classrooms and establishing modern IT laboratories in public schools throughout Punjab.
He revealed that the provincial government is constructing 25,000 classrooms across the province through development projects worth billions of rupees. The initiative also includes strengthening boundary walls, upgrading sports facilities, and introducing improved learning environments for students.
The minister said these projects represent one of the largest investments in the education sector, aimed at ensuring that students have access to modern facilities that support both academic and extracurricular development.
Highlighting measures to expand educational opportunities, Rana Sikandar Hayat announced that the subsidy provided per student in schools supported by the Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has been doubled. He said the move would help improve educational access and support quality learning for a greater number of students.
According to the minister, the government’s increased focus on education reflects its commitment to raising standards in public schools and creating equal opportunities for children across Punjab.
He emphasized that strengthening school infrastructure remains a central component of the province’s education policy and instructed relevant authorities to ensure that all development schemes are completed within the prescribed timelines.
The Punjab government believes that these initiatives will contribute significantly to improving educational outcomes and providing students with a more modern and effective learning environment.
