GUJRANWALA: A group of 517 Sikh pilgrims from India has arrived at Gurdwara Rohri Sahib in Eminabad to participate in the annual commemorations of the death anniversary of Baba Guru Arjan Dev Ji, officials said on Sunday.

The pilgrims reached the sacred site in a well-organised convoy under tight security arrangements, as authorities ensured a smooth and safe passage for the visiting religious delegation.

Senior officials including Commissioner Gujranwala Division Muhammad Ali, Regional Police Officer Khurram Shahzad Virk, Deputy Commissioner Naveed Ahmed, and City Police Officer Dr Ghias Gul welcomed the pilgrims upon their arrival. Flower garlands were presented to the visitors, while rose petals were showered as a gesture of hospitality and goodwill.

District administration officials said comprehensive arrangements had been made for the pilgrims’ accommodation, security, and religious observances. A foolproof security plan has been implemented across the route and surrounding areas to ensure the safety of all visitors.

Deputy Commissioner Naveed Ahmed said special health camps, heatwave relief centres, and rescue services had also been established to facilitate the pilgrims during their stay.

He added that all necessary measures were being taken to ensure that visiting devotees could participate in their religious rituals and ceremonies without any inconvenience.

Gurdwara Rohri Sahib in Eminabad is considered one of the most significant sacred sites in Sikhism, attracting large numbers of pilgrims each year from across the world, particularly during annual religious events.

The visiting pilgrims expressed satisfaction over the arrangements made by the Punjab government and local administration, praising the hospitality, security measures, and overall management.

They also thanked the authorities for providing a peaceful environment that allowed them to perform their religious rituals with ease and devotion.
