LAHORE –The Punjab Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, on Tuesday approved the provincial budget for the fiscal year 2026-27, with a total outlay of Rs5.85 trillion.
During the meeting, Punjab Finance Minister Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman briefed cabinet members on the budget’s key features and proposed allocations for the upcoming financial year.
Under the approved proposals, Rs752 billion has been allocated for the provincial development programme to fund infrastructure schemes, public services and other development projects across Punjab.
The budget also proposes a seven percent increase in salaries and pensions for provincial government employees and retired workers.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary, the Chairman of the Planning and Development Board, the Finance Secretary and other senior officials, who reviewed and endorsed the budget proposals before their presentation in the Punjab Assembly.
The provincial budget is expected to outline the government’s priorities for the next fiscal year, focusing on development projects, public welfare initiatives and administrative expenditures.
