WASHINGTON (News Desk) – Donald Trump has said that the United States and Iran have engaged in “very good and productive” discussions over the past two days aimed at achieving a complete resolution of tensions in the Middle East.
The announcement comes amid heightened regional tensions. Earlier, Iran’s National Defence Council warned that any attack on its coastline or islands would lead to the mining of “all communication routes in the Persian Gulf,” as a deadline set by Trump for reopening the Strait of Hormuz expires today.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces have destroyed the Qasimiyah Bridge over the Litani River, a vital route out of southern Lebanon. Joseph Aoun described the move as a possible “prelude to a ground invasion.”
At the same time, US and Israeli forces continue strikes on Iranian targets, while Israel claims to have intercepted additional Iranian missiles.
In Iraq, airstrikes have hit the Baghdad headquarters of the Popular Mobilisation Forces, an Iran-backed paramilitary group, following attacks on a US diplomatic and logistics facility at the capital’s main airport.
