KARACHI (Web Desk) – The bodies of three transgender persons, bearing multiple gunshot wounds, were recovered in Karachi’s Memon Goth during the early hours of Sunday, police and rescue officials confirmed.

According to the Edhi Information Centre, the victims were discovered shortly after midnight and shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.
Police official Javed Ahmed Abro said investigators were working to establish the victims’ identities and that the motive for the killings was not yet clear.
Malir SSP Dr Abdul Khaliq Pirzada visited the site and instructed senior officers to ensure the quick arrest of those involved. A police spokesperson added that special joint teams have been formed to examine every angle of the incident.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah also issued strong directives to the inspector-general of police, ordering immediate action. “The killers of transgender persons must be brought to justice at all costs,” he said, adding that the state would not tolerate violence against marginalized citizens.
Karachi Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad called the murders “deeply shocking” and urged for the strictest punishment for the culprits.
Human rights groups say such incidents reflect a worrying rise in violence against transgender people in Pakistan. “When hate speech goes unchecked, such brutal outcomes are inevitable,” noted transgender activist and councillor Shahzadi Rai.
A recent study by Blue Veins and the National Commission on Human Rights highlighted how transgender persons face widespread social exclusion, including rejection by families, job discrimination, and violence, leaving them highly vulnerable.
The latest murders add to a grim pattern: in July, transgender persons were killed in Malakand and Peshawar, while last year, two were stabbed to death in Mardan.
