LAHORE — Punjab Traffic Police has announced a province-wide crackdown on motorists who have failed to pay their electronic traffic fines, with strict legal action set to begin from July 1, 2026, as authorities move to strengthen enforcement of traffic regulations and improve road discipline across the province.
According to a press release issued by Punjab Traffic Police on Tuesday, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Traffic Punjab Muhammad Waqas Nazir has directed all traffic formations to initiate comprehensive action against e-challan defaulters under a zero-tolerance policy.
The police spokesman said that no preferential treatment would be given to anyone and action would be taken uniformly against all violators. Authorities believe the campaign will help improve compliance with traffic rules and enhance the efficiency of the e-challan system introduced to ensure transparency in enforcement.
Traffic officers are currently using the Traffic Police One App to verify e-challan records at the spot during routine checking and enforcement operations. The same digital platform is also being used to make the recovery process from defaulters more effective and streamlined.
Punjab Traffic Police advised citizens to obtain information regarding their e-challans only through the official website of the Punjab Safe City Authority. Motorists were warned not to trust any unverified messages, websites or links claiming to offer online payment facilities.
The department cautioned that cybercriminals and fraudsters may attempt to exploit citizens through fake links and fraudulent messages. Officials clarified that the Punjab Safe City Authority does not send any online payment links for e-challan payments and urged the public to remain vigilant against online scams and forgery.
DIG Traffic Punjab Muhammad Waqas Nazir appealed to motorists to clear their outstanding e-challans before the July 1 deadline to avoid legal consequences. He emphasized that strict action would be taken against lawbreakers and that ensuring discipline on roads remained a top priority for the department.
He said adherence to traffic laws was essential for guaranteeing safe travel and maintaining an organized and efficient traffic system. The DIG added that respect for traffic rules not only protects individual motorists but also contributes to the safety and convenience of all road users.
Punjab Traffic Police has reiterated its commitment to improving road safety standards and promoting responsible driving behavior through effective enforcement and public awareness initiatives across the province.
