Under the programme, parents will receive conditional cash assistance if they keep their children away from labour. The children will then be enrolled in education and skill-building initiatives to ensure they gain knowledge and opportunities for a better future.
The government will form task committees and implement a detailed action plan to eliminate child labour. These committees will oversee more than 20 initiatives, including digital mapping and geo-tagging of child workers. A helpline and rehabilitation centres will also be set up to support children and their families.
Officials said the socio-economic survey-based stipend will help families meet basic needs without relying on child labour. Authorities believe the scheme can break the cycle of poverty and exploitation and improve social welfare in the province.
