PML-N becomes largest party in National and Punjab Assemblies after reserved seats notification

LAHORE – Following the Election Commission’s notification of reserved seats, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has emerged as the largest party in both the National Assembly and the Punjab Assembly.

In Punjab, significant changes have occurred in the composition of reserved seats. The number of women members representing the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has increased from three to four. The Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) has gained one additional women’s seat, increasing its count from two to three. The Stabilization Pakistan Party has also seen its female representation grow from one to two members.

For minority seats in the Punjab Assembly, PML-N’s representation has risen from five to seven. The Pakistan People’s Party has secured one minority seat as well.

Following these changes, the total number of PML-N members in the Punjab Assembly has surged from 206 to 229. The PPP’s strength has increased from 14 to 16 members. PML-Q now holds 11 seats, up from 10, while the Stabilization Pakistan Party has gained one seat, bringing its total to seven.

The Sunni Ittehad Council continues to hold 76 seats, and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has 27 members in the House. Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) and Wahdat-e-Muslimeen each have one member.

Out of the total 371 seats in the Punjab Assembly, 369 are currently filled. One independent member has not taken the oath even after more than a year, and one seat remains vacant pending a by-election.
