ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – The Ministry of Interior has issued a clarification regarding comments made by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, stating that his remarks about money moving abroad were presented out of context by sections of the media.
According to the ministry’s spokesperson, Naqvi did not claim that $100 billion had been transferred out of Pakistan. Instead, he referred to approximately Rs100 billion leaving the country over the past three to four years, citing figures already circulating publicly.
The clarification follows widespread reporting that inaccurately converted the figure into dollars, significantly exaggerating the scale of capital outflows.
The spokesperson further said that several television channels aired the statement without proper context, which does not reflect the actual facts.
The statement was issued in response to Naqvi’s recent address to the business community in Karachi, where he discussed economic challenges and urged investors to contribute to national stability.
The ministry stressed the importance of responsible journalism and accurate reporting, particularly on sensitive economic issues.
