ISLAMABAD – Several major highways and motorway routes will be closed to traffic from Wednesday evening as authorities step up security arrangements in the Islamabad and Attock regions.
According to the National Highways and Motorway Police, the M-1 will be closed in both directions between the Islamabad Toll Plaza and Chachh Interchange.
The closures will also affect the Fateh Jang, Tarnol, Sangjani, Brahma Bahtar, Burhan, Hazara Motorway and Ghazi interchanges.
The M-14 will also be closed in both directions from Hakla to Kundal. Fateh Jang, Pindi Gheb, Khurpa, Tarap, Daud Khel, Kot Balian and Isa Khel interchanges will remain closed during the restrictions.
The N-5, or GT Road, will also be closed in both directions at Attock Khurd.
The latest NHMP travel advisory lists law-and-order-related restrictions on sections of the M-14, while other routes are also being monitored for traffic and security conditions. (NHMP)
Motorists have been advised to check the latest traffic situation before travelling and follow instructions issued by the motorway authorities.
The closures come amid heightened security preparations around Attock and routes linking Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with the Islamabad-Rawalpindi region.
