LAHORE – Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) has successfully concluded the first cohort of the three-month Mentoring Programme for Universities (MPU), an initiative of the National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE), Higher Education Commission (HEC).
A certificate distribution ceremony was held at the university to mark the successful completion of the programme.
Regional Director HEC Dr. Muhammad Javed Iqbal attended the ceremony as the chief guest. He appreciated the commitment and active participation of mentors and mentees, while acknowledging LCWU’s efforts to promote professional development and academic leadership through a structured mentoring framework.
Dr. Javed emphasized the importance of integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) and emerging digital technologies into teaching, learning, research, administration and institutional development.
LCWU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Uzma Quraishi highlighted the significance of faculty development and sustainable academic leadership. She encouraged young faculty members to enhance their leadership skills, prepare for future responsibilities and effectively address emerging academic and professional challenges.
The mentoring programme was conducted from April to June 2026 after an orientation session held on April 6. Participants received one-on-one mentoring through physical, virtual and hybrid sessions covering key areas including academic leadership and governance, AI and digital tools, conflict resolution, decision-making, professional growth, ethics, inclusivity and workplace effectiveness.
The programme helped participants improve confidence in academic decision-making, enhance digital and AI competencies, and develop leadership capabilities for institutional growth and digital transformation. It also encouraged interdisciplinary research collaboration between mentors and mentees.
During the ceremony, LCWU announced the launch of the second cohort of the Mentoring Programme for Universities, reaffirming its commitment to continuous faculty development, mentoring and leadership capacity-building.
The ceremony concluded with the distribution of certificates among successful mentors and mentees in recognition of their dedication and active participation in the programme.
