Lahore Press Club and National Women Journalists Forum celebrate evening in honor of  journalist Farah Waraich

LAHIRE (News Desk) Lahore Press Club and National Women Journalists Forum, under the leadership of President Farzana Chaudhry, held an evening in honor of the legendary journalist Farah Waraich at Nisar Usmani Auditorium.

The event began with the recitation of the Quran and praises of Allah. President of Lahore Press Club, Arshad Ansari, welcomed the legendary journalist Farah Waraich by presenting her with a bouquet, while Farzana Chaudhry, President of the National Women Journalists Forum, presented her a shield.

Those who paid tribute to her journalistic services and skills included President Lahore Press Club Arshad Ansari, Imtiaz Alam, Anjum Rasheed, Parvez Basheer, Khalid Farooqi, Mian Saifur Rehman, Rais Ansari, Abdur Rehman Jami, Sohail Ashraf, Ameena Anbarin, Gul Farzana, Saadia Salahuddin, Saadia Qureshi, Farah Hashmi, Farzana Chaudhry, Rafia Naheed Ikram, and Gulnaz Nawab.The organizers included President Farzana Chaudhry, General Secretary Derakhshanda Alamdar, Senior Vice President Kanwal Naseem, Vice Presidents Mubashra Sultan and Uzki Maqsood, Finance Secretary Rabia Azmat, Information Secretary Nabeela Akbar, and Zahida Parveen.Senior journalist Farah Waraich is a shining star of principled and practical journalism who started her career as a sub-editor and, based on her abilities, became the first female Chief News Editor of one of Pakistan’s major publishing houses, Daily Jang.

In the newsroom, where men have always held dominance, Farah Waraich’s name stands distinctive.

This was acknowledged by all the senior and fellow journalists who spoke at the event. There is no doubt that Farah Waraich is a guiding light for young female journalists.The event was attended by Farah Waraich’s family, classmates, and GM of Ofosh Club, Muhammad Akram Khan Niazi, who participated specially. Many senior and junior male and female journalists attended, including Tamseelah Chishti, Atiya Zaidi, Misbah Chaudhry, Lubna Khan, Shehnila, Anbarin Fatima, Sofia Yazdani, Zubaida Anwar Khan, Naumana Yaseen, Naila Sahiba, Saima Nazir, Maimoona Siddiqua, Shaheen Rashid, Afiya Maqbool Jahangir, Aini Bajwa, Ayesha Tahseen, Maimoona Siddiqua, Fauzia Sultana, Mubashra Anwar, Maaira Hashmi. Male journalists included Saeed Akhtar, Nawaz Tahir, Salahuddin Butt, Qasim Raza, Syed Badr Saeed, Imran Sheikh, Muhammad Shehzad, M. Zaheer, Jamil Zafar, Tariq Waraich, and others.
