Lahore police cracks down hard on gambling: 2,381 arrested, Rs113m seized

LAHORE: Lahore Police is actively continuing its crackdown against those involved in gambling activities across the city. According to the spokesman Lahore Police, a total of 2,381 suspects have been arrested so far this year in connection with gambling and 596 cases have been registered.

Authorities recovered more than Rs. 113.52 million in cash that was being used as betting money during raids, the spokesperson added.

Capital City Police Officer Bilal Siddique Kamyana emphasized that the campaign against gamblers will continue with full force. He has directed all concerned units to intensify crackdowns on gambling dens and online gambling networks, instructing intelligence-based raids to be carried out at known locations.

The CCPO also highlighted the growing concern over online gambling, stating that a tighter net must be cast around individuals operating and participating in such activities. “With the assistance of the prosecution department, those involved in gambling will be brought to justice,” he said.

CCPO Kamyana urged parents to keep their children away from online gambling and fraudulent applications and to stay vigilant. He also stressed the importance of utilizing information technology to effectively monitor and counter online gambling activities.

He concluded by urging citizens to work together with the police in building a crime-free society.
