TEHRAN (Web Desk) – Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it launched a series of ballistic missiles targeting Jordan’s Al Azraq Air Base in retaliation for what it described as a US attack on Qeshm Island, marking another sharp escalation in the rapidly expanding regional confrontation.
In a statement released on Thursday, the IRGC said the missile operation was carried out against what it described as a military facility used by US forces. Iranian officials claimed the strike caused significant damage to military assets at the base and resulted in casualties among personnel stationed there.
The IRGC alleged that three US F-35 fighter jets were severely damaged during the attack. It also claimed that several officers and military personnel were killed or injured. However, the statement did not provide evidence to support the claims.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most critical shipping routes, carrying a significant share of global oil exports. Any disruption to navigation through the waterway has the potential to affect international energy markets and global trade.
The latest Iranian announcement followed reports that US-led military operations targeted Iranian-linked positions in Iraq. According to reports citing US officials, strikes were conducted against sites believed to host Iranian advisers and personnel supporting Iran-backed armed groups.
Those operations reportedly killed around 20 Iranian advisers, including members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and technical personnel. US officials reportedly said the strikes were intended to reduce the operational capability of armed groups responsible for launching missiles and drones against American interests.
Iran has strongly condemned those operations, describing them as violations of international law and asserting its right to respond under the principle of self-defense.
