LAHORE: The International Conference on “Statistics and AI: Bridging the Gap with Data-Driven Innovations” concluded at Lahore College for Women University (LCWU), highlighting the growing role of data-driven approaches in research, innovation, and decision-making.

The event was organized by the Department of Statistics, LCWU, and brought together prominent academicians, researchers, professionals, and students from across Pakistan and abroad to engage in meaningful academic dialogue on the evolving intersection of statistics and artificial intelligence.
The conference opened with an impressive inaugural ceremony led by Vice Chancellor LCWU, Prof Dr Uzma Quraishi. In her address, she underscored the transformative impact of statistics and artificial intelligence on modern innovation and evidence-based policymaking. She commended the Department of Statistics for providing a collaborative platform that promotes interdisciplinary learning and academic excellence.

The conference featured keynote addresses by renowned scholars, including Prof Carla Vivacqua from Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), Brazil; Prof Eric Vance from the University of Colorado Boulder, USA; Dr Sohail Chand from the University of the Punjab; Dr Jamal Abdul Nasir from Government College University, Lahore; Prof Atinuke Adebanji from Purdue University, USA; and Dr Rehan Ahmad Khan Sherwani from the University of the Punjab, Lahore.
A panel discussion titled “Statisticians in the Age of Data Science and AI” followed, during which experts examined emerging challenges and expanding opportunities for statisticians in a rapidly evolving technological landscape. The panel emphasized the need to blend core statistical foundations with modern tools such as machine learning, big data analytics, and advanced computational techniques. Participants actively contributed to the discussion, exploring ways to bridge traditional statistical methods with AI-driven innovations.
The conference concluded with a hands-on workshop on “Data Analytics in Python: Tools and Techniques,” conducted by Dr Naila Amjad and Ms Noor Shahid from the Department of Statistics, LCWU. The workshop provided participants with practical training in Python-based data analysis, strengthening their skills for advanced research applications.
Dr Asifa Kamal, Co-chair of the conference and Chairperson of the Department of Statistics, LCWU, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing appreciation to the guest speakers, participants, faculty members, and students for their valuable contributions and active engagement, which ensured the success of the conference.
