ISLAMABAD, December 7, 2025:
The government has decided to launch a strict crackdown against smoke-emitting vehicles in a bid to curb rising air pollution and smog in the federal capital.
Vehicle owners have been directed to get their automobiles inspected from laboratories approved by the Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (Pak-EPA) and obtain the required emission certificates. Authorities have warned that vehicles operating without valid certificates will face strict legal action.
According to APP, the Islamabad Environmental Protection Agency stated that smoke-emitting vehicles are a major source of harmful gas emissions, which significantly contribute to smog and pose serious risks to public health. Keeping this in view, decisive action has been planned against such vehicles.
The department emphasized that vehicle emissions must comply with the prescribed environmental standards. Driving vehicles that emit excessive smoke is a punishable offense under the law, and violators will be subjected to heavy fines and legal proceedings.
The EPA has urged vehicle owners to ensure timely inspection of their vehicles and obtain the mandatory certification to avoid penalties. Authorities have also hinted at the cancellation of route permits for persistent violators as part of the enforcement drive.
